inverting the familiar sounds of electronic and pop music, chicago-based producer, songwriter and dj folie is a rising luminary in underground electronic music. her innovative sound evokes both sweet and abrasive vibes, defying conventional genre boundaries. drawing inspiration from the sound design of early 2010s dubstep and edm, folie propels these genres into overdrive, creating an eclectic yet danceable mix infused with elements of grunge, dubstep, pop, and more.
folie broke into the underground music sphere with her debut mixtape 123! released on dylan brady's dog show records, featuring contributions from 0khz and cali cartier. she has collaborated with artists such as umru, fraxiom and william crooks, and has remixed tracks for artists such as that kid and dorian electra. In 2023, she introduced whoTF, her collaborative project with fellow chicago-based artist aaayyyaaa, released on the nyc-based underground label song music.
after a brief hiatus, folie released her most recent ep, shell also on umru's song music label. showcasing a more experimental, danceable style, heavily inspired by her experiences at events around chicago. folie has received co-signs from artists such as 100 gecs, underscores and umru.
